The Honorable Lawrence F. Army Jr. (Ret.) is a widely respected figure in the Massachusetts legal community, known for his decades of service as a family law attorney, judge, educator, and advocate for compassionate dispute resolution.
For over 25 years, Judge Army led a highly successful law firm serving clients across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His legal practice concentrated on high-conflict divorce and custody matters, where he became known for his strategic legal acumen, unwavering advocacy, and deep empathy for families navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.
His excellence in the field has earned him numerous accolades. The National Academy of Family Law Attorneys ranked him among the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys in the Nation. He was repeatedly recognized by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys as one of Massachusetts’ Top 10 Lawyers for Client Satisfaction, listed by The Legal Network as a Top 10 Attorney in Massachusetts, and included in Who’s Who Directories as one of the Top 100 Attorneys in North America.
Judge Army also engaged with the public through a popular radio segment titled “Ask Larry the Lawyer” on the Marconi Award-winning Greg Hill Morning Show, where he offered practical legal insights to a broad audience.
In 2019, Governor Charlie Baker appointed Judge Army as an Associate Justice of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Court, recognizing his deep experience and commitment to justice. On the bench, Judge Army brought fairness, compassion, and clarity to complex family law cases, always seeking to protect the best interests of children and foster constructive outcomes for families.
Throughout his judicial tenure, Judge Army served as a guest lecturer for prestigious organizations including the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Department of Children and Families, sharing his knowledge with legal professionals and public service agencies alike.
Now retired from the bench, Judge Army continues to make a meaningful impact through his private conciliation practice, helping families resolve legal disputes outside the courtroom.
